I knew very little about functional neurology when I met Dr. Ingrid Hamel. I had been recommended to her for care for my daughter who has a learning disability. The warm welcome, the clear answers to my questions and Ingrid's contagious energy soon made me feel confident and won my daughter's confidence as well.
One visit followed another. There were many exercises to do at home. Luckily, Dr. Hamel presents everything in a playful way to children. This part of the treatment was not always easy. It requires involvement and consistency on the part of the parents. Ingrid supported, encouraged and motivated us along the way.
Today, I am able to say that every effort invested is worth it because the results are beyond our expectations. My daughter's posture has changed. She shows an ease of movement, a comfort within her body. In the months following her treatments, a clear improvement was observed in class by her teacher and her special education teacher. Ingrid even referred us to a colleague for a more specific problem she detected in my child's posture. I am indebted to her for her vigilance.

At BrainWorks, we believe in the potential each child has to achieve their own greatness. Because our care is tailored to kids 4-10 years of age, we get to take advantage of an important stage of life for a child, what we like to call the “magic years”.
During this time, kids believe in themselves and believe in the magic of super powers. And we do too. I would like to express my satisfaction with the functional neurology care my son received. Before the treatments, my son was on medication for ADHD which caused several side effects such as: lack of appetite, sadness, nervous tics, skin problems, insomnia.
Following care, we went from a 54mg dose to 18mg and we expect to be able to stop the use of this medication shortly [under the supervision of his medical doctor]. The side effects of the medication have all stopped because the dose is very low now. We’d like to specify that the medication was readjusted in a progressive way by his medical doctor to ensure that the attention deficit disorder no longer persisted. We can therefore conclude, at this stage, that the functional neurology treatments have significantly improved our son's attention deficit disorder.
In addition, we have noticed a great improvement in his school grades. He no longer receives special supervision and his behavior issues have ceased altogether. All in all, our son has become a happier, calmer, more interested and focused boy.
